Building an Elevated Wellness Brand on Shopify

About the Brand

SALTT is a wellness + electrolyte brand grounded in science and community. Their product line spans flavored stick mixes, concentrated drops, and capsules—all designed without junk, sugar, or fill. Their messaging, visuals, and experience speak to people who care about performance, health, and authenticity.

The Challenge

When SALTT approached Shopstars, these were their key needs:

  • Create a Shopify storefront that truly felt like SALTT—not just a generic “shop.”
  • Present multiple product formats (stick packs, drops, capsules) with clarity, cross-selling, and educational context.
  • Build flexible content areas and custom sections so their marketing team could run campaigns, hero visuals, and drop announcements easily.
  • Support subscription logic, gifting flows, and campaign-based drops (some SKUs may be pre-order or limited runs).
  • Manage metafields, app embeds, and third-party integrations without structural fragility.
  • Keep visual consistency, speed, and brand integrity intact as product lines grow.

Our Approach

Design & Modular Theme

  • We customized a premium Shopify 2.0 theme with modular sections: hero, product grids, ingredient spotlights, blogs, partner banners, etc.
  • Every section is editable via the theme editor. Marketing can add or rearrange without touching code.
  • Used app embed blocks for newsletter forms, Klaviyo popups, subscription widgets, etc. This keeps the layout clean and the code manageable.
  • Developed a small custom app to handle font loading, prevent flash-of-unstyled content, and control font weights across devices.

Product Strategy & UX

  • Structured products into logical groups: Stick Packs, Drops, Capsules. Allowed cross-format upsells (“Prefer capsules instead of sticks?”).
  • Created logic-based previews and “How to Use / Benefits” panels on product pages to help customers choose the right format.
  • Linked “Learn” content and ingredient deep-dives inline—so customers won’t have to leave the page to understand what they’re buying.

Subscription + Gifting Flows

  • Integrated Recharge to enable subscription, gifting, and product bundles.
  • Customized the UI so subscription options feel natural and native—no broken modals or jarring redirects.
  • Built alternate flows for gifting, “pause your subscription,” and account-level subscription management.

App Integrations & Embeds

  • Configured Klaviyo popups, flows, and event tracking embedded cleanly.
  • Integrated analytics, affiliate tracking, and commerce events via app embed blocks (rather than sprinkling code everywhere).
  • Prepared the backend to be punchout / B2B-ready in the future (if needed).

Performance & Stability

  • Optimized assets (images, video) for fast loading across devices.
  • Lazy-loaded non-critical sections, compressed images, used Shopify’s CDN.
  • Constructed theme logic to avoid unnecessary HTTP requests and keep navigation snappy.

Results & Impact

  • SALTT now has a scalable, brand-forward Shopify presence that evolves with them.
  • Campaigns, new releases, and seasonal drops can be launched quickly thanks to modular sections.
  • Subscription & gifting logic run smoothly, with minimal friction reported by users.
