Overview #
Migrating to Shopify requires careful handling of data, redirects, and system dependencies to ensure a smooth transition with no downtime. Shopstars provides two approaches depending on your needs: fully managed migrations, where our team handles everything end-to-end, and collaborative migrations, where you export the data and we perform the technical work inside Shopify.
Fully Managed Migration #
In a fully managed migration, our team takes control of the entire process. This typically requires direct access to your existing platform and server. We extract product, customer, and order data, rebuild your store within Shopify, and handle all redirects to ensure SEO continuity. Fully managed migration is recommended when you want a hands-off process and minimal internal involvement. This option should be requested during the kickoff call so we can plan resources accordingly.
Collaborative Migration #
For clients who prefer to be more involved, a collaborative migration allows you to handle the initial export and Shopstars takes care of the Shopify import and configuration. The process follows these steps:
- Export products, customers, and orders from your old platform
 - Provide us the exported files or secure access credentials
 - We import the data into Shopify, preserving product variants, images, and customer records
 - Redirects (301) are set up to maintain existing search engine rankings and inbound links
 - Checkout flow and order integrity are tested to confirm functionality

Supported Platforms #
We support migrations from most major platforms, including:
- Magento
 - WooCommerce
 - BigCommerce
 - Custom or legacy e-commerce platforms

Key Considerations #
- SEO preservation is critical; every migration includes redirect mapping to maintain rankings
 - Data validation is performed after import to confirm product details, customer records, and historical orders are accurate
 - Timelines vary by source platform and data complexity, but most migrations can be completed within 3 to 6 weeks
